Nothing wastes your resources more than mailing to the wrong audience. If you know someone is not interested in your message or mission, it pays to add them to a “nixie” or suppression list, which can be used during a merge/purge to remove these people from your prospect mail.

Our data entry department can quickly add names and addresses into your nixie file. In addition, the nixie file is fully integrated with the rest of our donation management and prospect management systems. When a donor changes address, the old address is added to the nixie file. When an NCOA is run, the old addresses are added as well. We even add the incorrect address from a prospect mailing when the donor responds with a correction.

Prospect management usually means getting lists from other organizations and, although you can’t change their files, you can use the nixie file to make sure you don’t pay for their same mistakes twice!
